Curse of monkey island game download

Once again you assume the role of aspiring pirate Guybrush Threepwood. Guybrush is set adrift after failing to find the fabled treasure Big Whoop. Feeling the situation is hopeless, Guybrush eventually stumbles into a battle and is apprehended by his arch-nemesis the Zombie Pirate LeChuck. Right from the get-go the story is engaging and funny. The opening sequence is one of the more memorable in adventure gaming history, and immediately you feel for the pathetic Guybrush.

After he is captured, Guybrush is rescued by his lady love Elaine. Using a ring he finds on LeChuck's ship, Guybrush proposes to Elaine, but no sooner is the ring on her finger than she turns into a gold statue.

Yes, that's right -- as if you couldn't guess, the ring is cursed. The rest of the game is centered around finding an antidote for the curse. On your way, you'll meet an innumerable cast of memorable characters -- including Murray the talking skull a running gag throughout the game , and Kenny, a fat little swindler who reminds me of a certain someone from South Park.

The story surrounding the game isn't ultra-complicated and it's not as sophisticated as others; however, it's engaging, funny and memorable, and when you finish, you'll wish you hadn't.

The interface in The Curse of Monkey Island is easy and intuitive, and takes all of two minutes to learn. It is almost identical to the interface used in LucasArts' Full Throttle. There aren't really any big innovations in gameplay here over the previous two episodes, which depending on your position you can view as good or bad.

I am all for pushing the envelope in gaming and I very much like to see new ideas put to good use, but it is nice to know that a good ol' conventional game can still be produced, and there is a refreshing tendency with the Monkey Island series not to mess with success.

I've always been a fan of games like this, and they're not as common as they used to be. I'm very glad to see the masters remind us all how it is to be done, and I hope the success of this game will inspire them to make sequels to some of their other classic adventure games.

The puzzles in Monkey Island are well varied. Like any good adventure game, the puzzles can be frustrating, but if you persist the solution will ultimately present itself. This was abandoned as a usable item. In the final version of the game, Guybrush automatically drags it down to the beach in a cutscene. Type object pickup in the ScummVM debugger outside the Goodsoup Hotel to have this in your inventory. There are unused guest-room-mints which were intended for the skeleton in the Goodsoup Hotel guest room.

Type object state 1 in the ScummVM debugger while in the guest room and its graphic will appear in the skeleton's hand. There's an unused stage-floorboard-anim-object object in the Puerto Pollo Theater Stage area. While this is technically seen in the cutscene where a cannon ball lands on the floorboard, it was abandoned as an interact-able background object. In-game, the floor is back to normal after the show.

This line is heard in-game with a pitch effect after using the helium balloons. Here's what it actually sounds like:. After Guybrush downs the spiked drink, the following lines are heard in-game with a distortion effect. This is what they actually sound like:. There are two unused objects in the Snow Monkey diorama area which suggest that there were supposed to be more pirates on the ride: pirate-sledders-object left square and pirate-skier-object right square.

Their intended locations can be seen in red. All in all, the puzzles tend to be well-balanced and quite funny, such as turning yourself into Pollo Diablo Devil Chicken to scare people. The cast of characters in this game are very clever and quite humorous.

Each of them are funny in their own ways and are all voice acted to perfection. There are even some star voice actors, such as Gary Coleman as the hilarious Lenny the Foulmouth. At certain points in the game, players will have to battle it out using pirate ships. Like the other Monkey Island games, fights are done through insults. There are a multitude of insults to be made, and they are all funny or stupid, depending on your sense of humor. Whoever comes up with the best or snappiest comeback, wins.

The graphics in Curse are wonderful. All locations and characters are hand drawn, very detailed, and colorful. It has a bit of a cartoonish look that fits in perfectly with the subject matter of the game.
